  • HISTORY ASPECTS:
  • The Bombardier CRJ-200LR became one of the defining regional jets of the late 1990s and 2000s, bringing jet-powered service to smaller communities that previously depended on turboprops or larger mainline aircraft. Based on the Canadair Regional Jet family, the CRJ-200 featured efficient General Electric CF34 turbofan engines, a 50-seat cabin, and the extended-range capability of the CRJ-200LR. Its combination of speed, operating economics, and relatively short-field performance made it particularly well suited to regional airline networks in the United States.
  • Air Wisconsin was one of the most important regional airline operators in the American Eagle system. Founded in 1965, the Wisconsin-based carrier built a long relationship with major airlines by providing connecting service from smaller cities into larger hub airports. Under the American Eagle brand, Air Wisconsin operated numerous regional routes using aircraft that connected passengers to American Airlines' larger network. The CRJ-200 became an important part of this operation, allowing Air Wisconsin to replace older turboprops with faster and more comfortable regional jet service.
  • CRJ-200LR N420AW was one of the aircraft associated with Air Wisconsin's American Eagle operations. Wearing the American Eagle regional livery, the aircraft represented the era when regional jets became increasingly common throughout the United States. Aircraft such as N420AW routinely operated short- and medium-distance flights linking smaller communities with major airline hubs, where passengers could connect onward to American Airlines' extensive domestic and international network. The aircraft's compact size and jet performance made it particularly effective for routes where a larger airliner would not have been economical.
  • This 1:200 scale model, registration N420AW, captures the appearance of a classic American regional jet from the period when Air Wisconsin was an important part of the American Eagle network. With its distinctive regional-airline markings and compact CRJ proportions, it makes an excellent addition to collections focused on American aviation history, regional airlines, or the evolution of U.S. commercial air travel. A great display piece for collectors, this model brings the character of the American Eagle regional-jet era to a shelf, office, or aviation-themed collection.
